Principle
Proxy voting can be represented on the day of an election, a voter's choice.

· be registered in the same commune as person giving the proxy (the principal), but not necessarily in the same polling station,
· not have received more than one proxy, unless the proxy has been established abroad (in this case the agent can receive 2 proxies, one based in France and other foreign-based or two proxies based abroad).
Eligibility
Reasons for proxy voting is allowed:
· Holidays,
· Bonds or professional training attendance preventing the principal to go to his polling station on election day,
· state of health, disability, or assistance to a sick or infirm
· Registration on the electoral roll of a municipality other than that of the residence.

The principal must apply in person:

The principal must provide proof of identity (national identity card, passport, driving license ...).
In setting the proxy, a particular form must be completed where more detailed information on the agent (name, user name, given name (s), address, date and place of birth). This form includes a sworn statement indicating the reason for the impediment.

A medical certificate or proof of disability must be attached to the travel demand at home.
Times
The steps must be carried out as soon as possible to allow time for delivery of proxy for Mayor and City Council in its processing. In principle, a proxy may be made until the eve of the poll, but the agent may then not be able to vote if the town has not received on time.
Duration
In principle, the proxy is valid for one election, or more elections if they occur the same day (first or second round, or both).
The proxy may also be issued for a maximum of one year from date of issue. Nothing prevents the client to establish his attorney for a shorter duration. It must indicate on the form the date of expiry of his attorney and testify on their honor that is sustainably unable to get to his polling station.
The proxy can for example be established for 3 months, 6 months or until such other time within 1 year (or 3 years for French nationals living outside France).
Termination
A proxy may be terminated at any time by the same procedure as that of his stay
· either to change representatives,
· vote for either directly (by proof of identity, provided that his agent has not already submitted).
It is strongly recommended to inform the agent of that change, to avoid complications.
Voting Procedure
